WIN participates in Canadian Women’s Ride Day July 19th
On July 19, WIN participated in the 3rd annual Canadian Women’s Ride Day. The event’s mission is “Bringing women together to share a passion for motorcycling and its community, life and camaraderie, to promote safe riding and to give back to women in need in our community through charity and action, and above all to have fun.” We are very grateful that WIN was chosen to be one of the recipients of the proceeds from the event, along with Cowichan Women Against Violence.
Nicky Fast and Shoko Sato rode in the event and Shoko had this to say:
“The Ride itself was beautiful. We left Cobble Hill at 10:30am and rode through country roads down to Maple Bay, and then headed towards Lake Cowichan via highway 18. We took a quick break at Lake Cowichan to enjoy (and envy) watching families swim in the Cowichan River, and continued through more back roads to Duncan. We were back at the Country Grocer in Cobble Hill just in time for a fantastic BBQ lunch! It was a great afternoon for women riders to mingle, listen to live music, bid on silent auction items and enjoy the beautiful weather. We welcomed the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of BC, later in the afternoon. There were approximately 130 riders, all women, as well as some great men supporters for the ride and the event. All in all, it was an amazing day with lots of fresh air and positive vibes from all participants. I want to express a huge thank you to the volunteers and organizers for putting together this phenomenon event!”
